BJP today accused the Harish Rawat government of blocking implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in Uttarakhand as it was afraid the opposition party will benefit electorally from their execution.
"The state government is not co-operating in the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes. It is even creating hurdles in their implementation as Harish Rawat fears that the BJP will benefit electorally from their effective implementation," newly appointed state BJP spokesman Munna Singh Chauhan said here.
Citing an instance in support of his charge, Chauhan claimed the state government is not co-operating with the Centre in the implementation of Kashipur-Sitarganj four lane highway project.
"The project is 77.2 km long in which Kashipur-Sitarganj Highway Pvt Ltd has been roped in on contract as the concessionaire.
"Going by the terms of the contract it is binding on the state government to give its support to the concessionaire but on the contrary the concessionaire in this case is being harassed," he said.
The project is scheduled to be completed by August 2016 but so far only 54 per cent of the land has been acquired for the project, the BJP spokesman said.

"Land acquisition officers appointed for the project are being transferred too frequently by the state government which is further delaying the land acquisition process," he said.
Alleging that all this was being done deliberately by the state government, Chauhan said the state government was creating hurdles in implementation of the centrally sponsored scheme as it did not want the BJP-led government at the Centre to get the credit for its effective execution.
If centrally sponsored schemes are implemented effectively in the state it will not only electorally benefit the BJP but will also belie the state government's propaganda that the Centre is not co-operating in the development of the Congress-ruled state, he said.
