"We will have to unite against divisive forces which perpetrate such dastardly acts," Rawat said and prayed for fortitude to people who have lost their kin in the attack.
He also issued directives to DGP B S Sidhu to step up vigil in border districts and crowded public places.
Patrolling around vital installations including railway stations and ISBTs as well as places of tourist interest like the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar and Rishikesh have been stepped up following the terrorist attack in the Punjab town, Sidhu told reporters.
Officials have also been asked to keep a tab on dubious movements in public places, Sidhu said.
As Uttarakhand abounds in places of tourist and religious interest, security has also been beefed up along the famous Har Ki Pauri and other ghats of the Ganga in Haridwar and Rishikesh, he said.
