Rawat seeks Rs 3997.37 crore from Centre

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today sought from the Centre Rs 3997.37 crore, the remaining amount of a disaster reconstruction package approved for the state earlier and a one time assistance of Rs 448 crore compensation.
In a letter to Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya, Rawat requested him to recommend to the Centre disbursement of Rs 3997.37 crore, the left-over of a disaster reconstruction package for Uttarakhand and a one time financial assistance of Rs 448 crore to make up for the losses caused to the state by the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission, Rawat's media incharge Surendra Kumar said.
The Cabinet Committee on Uttarakhand set up in the wake of 2013 calamity had approved a package of Rs 6089.02 crore out of which an amount of Rs 2091 crore only has been released so far and Rs 3997.37 crore is still awaited, Rawat said in his letter.
Citing substantial losses to the state due to recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission, Rawat also urged the Aayog to release a one-time financial assistance of Rs 448 crore to Uttarakhand in compensation of the losses incurred by it.
