Congress leaders from Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions will organise a public meeting at Anantapur soon to highlight the cause of a united Andhra Pradesh.
"We will organise the public meeting by the second week of July. We appeal to all those in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh to attend the public meeting cutting across party lines," Andhra Pradesh Primary Education Minister S Sailajanth told reporters here.
The move to organise the public meeting came after AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh's recent announcement that the process of taking a decision on Telangana is in its final stages.
Congress leaders from Telangana had organised an impressive public meeting here last Sunday to highlight the demand for a separate Telangana state.
They asserted that the formation of a separate Telangana is possible only with the help of the Congress.
Congress leaders from non-Telangana regions too reportedly sought permission to organise a meeting to highlight the cause of a united Andhra Pradesh.
