Delhi BJP today said it was ready for setting up of Accountability Commission for municipal corporations ruled by it to fix responsibility for delays and cost overruns in projects and dared Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to appoint a similar body for her government.
Accusing Dikshit government of wasting public money on unfeasible projects during her 15-year rule, BJP leaders today met Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and demanded setting up of an Accountability Commission for Delhi government to identify ministers and officials responsible for lapses.
"The Commission should look into all the cases of corruption and irregularities in delivering services to the people during the past 15 years," Delhi BJP Chief Vijay Goel told reporters here.
He was speaking after a BJP delegation, led by him and comprising Mayors of the North, East and South Delhi municipal corporations among others, met Jung and handed him a memorandum proposing setting up accountability commissions by Delhi municipal corporations and the city government.
Goel has also written to Delhi Chief Minister in this regard.
He said the Commission should be a statutory body to look into the complaints or irregularities pointed out by the Comptroller and Auditor General, Public Accounts Committee, Vigilance Commission and Lokayukta.

Citing the example of Munak canal, he said that Rs 440 crore have been spent on it but Delhi is yet to get water from Haryana.
"Similarly, cost escalation of Signature Bridge, scrapping of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor, wastage of crores of rupees in holding Commonwealth Games and cleaning of Yamuna are some of the examples of poor planning," Goel said.
The Delhi BJP Chief said when his party demanded setting up of the Commission, Dikshit challenged us "if we could implement it in BJP-ruled municipal corporations".
"Now I challenge the Delhi government that we would be appointing Accountability Commission and if she could do the same in Delhi government," he said, adding that people would be benefited with the setting up of such a commission.
He accused the Congress government of delaying projects like monorail projects and opening up of new hospitals.
Meanwhile, replying to queries, Goel voiced satisfaction over the performance of BJp MLas in Delhi.
