A 35-year-old man, executive for a real-estate developer, was found dead at his residence in south Delhi's Safdarjung Enclave, police said today.
The deceased, identified as Vishwanath, was the assistant manager for a real-estate developer in Noida, who resided at a rented accommodation here with a colleague, said a police official.
The matter came to light yesterday afternoon when a colleague came to meet Vishwanath as he did not go to office without any prior information. He found the main door open and Vishwanath lying motionless on the floor, said the official.
The colleague rushed Vishwanath to Safdarjung Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The hospital authorities reported the matter to the police, said the official.
Prima facie he was strangled to death in a suspected case of robbery, as the room was also found in a ransacked condition. But the case is being probed from all possible angles, said an official privy to the investigation.
Vishwanath's room-mate went home for Diwali and has not returned till now. His relatives were informed about the incident and the body was sent for post-mortem examination, said the official.
The time and cause of death can only be ascertained after the post-mortem report is obtained.
A case of murder has been registered against unknown persons and the police are monitoring CCTV footage obtained from nearby premises to identify suspects, the official added.
