All central government ministries have been asked to ensure employees' Aadhaar numbers are recorded in their service books.
Instructions have already been issued to ensure inclusion of Aadhaar numbers of employees' in their service books. An action taken report has been sought from the ministries in this regard, a senior official in Department of Personnel and Training said.
An employee's service book at present contains his or her bio-data, posting and security details, qualifying service, House Building Advance, Central Government Health Scheme, Central Government Employees Group Insurance Scheme, Leave Travel Concession, etc.
All central government ministries or departments were in November last year asked to ensure that the service books of all employees have an entry of the employees' Aadhaar number, he said. They were reminded in May this year to send an action taken report in this regard.
The information from most of the ministries or departments has not yet been received so far, the DoPT reminder issued today said.
Aadhaar, which is a 12 digit individual identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India, serves as a proof of identity and address, anywhere in the country.
