Record entries for Gautam Thakkar badminton

A record number of over 1000 entries have been received for the 3rd Gautam Thakkar Memorial All India Junior Badminton Tournament to be held from tomorrow at Bombay Gymkhana and Cricket Club of India (CCI) courts.
Competitions would be held in the boys and girls under-17 and under-19 categories in singles and doubles, besides in the mixed doubles event in under-19 category.
The prize fund is Rs 5 lakh and additional incentives of Rs 1.6 lakh would be given as bonus to top ranked shuttlers participating, a media release said today.
The tournament is sanctioned by Badminton Association of India and is being jointly organised by Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) and Greater Mumbai Badminton Association (GMBA).
The ranking tournament for juniors, which is set to conclude on July 20, is part of the BAI calendar and has attracted participation from players from across the country and every state badminton association, the release added.
