A FM transmitter-cum-receiver and a an antenna capable of radiating radio wave power uniformly in all directions, recovered from the Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh last year, have no inbuilt secrecy mechanism and posed no "security threat", police said today.
Both the devices, recovered by the forest officials from the Jhangi village in the district on December 4 last year, were examined and no security threat has been found, they said.
It has been revealed that the device is a FM transmitter-receiver of power of 5 watts with a normal range of 20-25 kms and crow fly range of 50 kms and contained industrial scientific and medical band.
This transmitter receiver is in the FM band operating between 87-108 MHx, which is a licensed bandwidth under the aegis of Ministry of Communications, police said.
The devices are scientific equipments, generally used by trekking groups and can be also used for commercial purposes.
