"On a request made by AP Police, the Interpol had issued a Red Corner Notice and the same was sent to all countries for detaining K Gangi Reddy. He was arrested by the Mauritian Police and we brought him to India under deportation laws," Ramudu told reporters at a press conference here.
Reddy had jumped the bail for not complying with bail conditions, which he obtained from Andhra Pradesh High Court and fled from India to Dubai and from there to various countries such as Ghana, Madagascar, and Mauritius.
"Deportation of Reddy was made possible as his passport was revoked, which he had obtained on fake identity," the DGP said.
The accused will be produced before Proddutur court in Kadapa as a conviction warrant is pending against him, the official added.
As many as 28 cases of various natures, besides scores of Forest Act violation cases are lodged against Reddy across AP.
He was also an accused in a case related to bomb attack on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in 2003 in Tirupati but was acquitted in the case.
