Red sanders worth Rs.1.5 crore seized near Tirupati

Red sander logs worth about Rs.1.5 crore were today seized from a vehicle in Puttur, about 40 km from here.
The vehicle with three occupants did not stop at a check-point and sped away on seeing forest officials, who gave a chase.
The occupants abandoned the vehicle at Timmapuram village and escaped.
On a search, the forest officials seized 66 logs of red sanders being smuggled from the dense Seshachalam hill ranges.
