Red tape in giving environmental clearance to be removed: Govt

The government will take policy- based decisions to remove red tape and avoid discrepancies in granting environmental clearance, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said today.
After having decided to fast-track clearance for defence- related projects, he said the government will review pending projects of Madhya Pradesh within next 15 days.
"We will take policy-based decisions to avoid discrepancies, remove red-tapism and bring transparency in environment clearances," Javadekar tweeted after meeting Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here.
He has also said the government will accord top priority in granting environmental clearance to projects in the public sector awaiting the green signal.
He has said that the government will try to strike a balance between development and environment protection.
"Met with CM of MadhyaPradesh @ChouhanShivraj. Assured quick solutions for Env Protection & Development of MP," he tweeted.
"We will review pending projects of Madhya Pradesh within next 15 days," he said.
