"Lioness" tells the true story of Lance Corporal Leslie Martz (to be played by Page), a US Marine who was stationed in Haditha, Iraq, and sent to Afghanistan as the leader of the first Female Engagement Team, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Determined to serve her country with the same valour and impact as the men she marches alongside, Martz soon finds herself fighting a war beyond the takedown of key insurgents and the Taliban.
The move comes as 38-year-old Morano, who spent years as a director of photography on indies such as "Frozen River", "Kill Your Darlings" and "The Skeleton Twins", readies for the October release of her feature directorial debut "Meadowland", which stars Olivia Wilde, Juno Temple and Luke Wilson.
James Dahl (The End of the Tour) is producing via his Modern Man Films along with Picture Films' Margot Hand, who is a producer on Meadowland as well. Alex Gayner is also a producer.
The project is eyeing an April 2016 start.
28-year-old Page's latest film, the civil rights drama "Freeheld", premiered at this year's Toronto Film Festival and opens in the US in limited release on October 2.
