Germany head coach Christian Wueck today blasted USA referee Jair Marrufo for not awarding a penalty after their player was allegedly elbowed by a Brazilian defender during their 1-2 quarterfinal loss in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, here tonight.
Brazil struck twice through Weverson and Paulinho in a space of six minutes in the second-half to trail past Germany and seal a semifinal date against England.
Germany coach Wueck congratulated Brazil but was clearly unhappy with the USA referee, as he claimed that a legitimate penalty was denied before the Selecao juniors got the lead in the 77th minute.
"Did you see the game? I think you can answer the question alone. Just look at Jan Boller's (bruised) eyebrows. Before they took a 2-1 lead. Just look at his eyebrows. He had a cut in his eye, and it was a clear foul. The difference was the referee I think. We had a chance to equalise but we were not so lucky today."
Wueck then went on to remind the rules.
"Before every World Cup game, each team gets instruction from the referees that every elbow in the face is a clear foul. It's a red card, and here it's not a foul! I don't believe it," he was furious.

"We have no probelm in losing a game. Congratulations to Brazil. I don't have problem in losing a match. But if it's like this, then it's very very harsh. Our players were crying in the changing room. They were very tired.
"We had a great first half. I can only criticise that we could not score a second goal in the second half but to lose this way is very very harsh," he lamented.
His Brazilian counterpart Carlos Amadeu however chose to ignore the incident and said his job is to keep his players focus intact.
"There are some experts sitting there to evaluate the referee's job. My role is to keep my focus on the game without thinking about what the referee is doing," he said.
