JD(S) President H D Deve Gowda today said there were many "experienced and capable regional leaders" who could become the Prime Minister of the country.
"It is not the monopoly of the national parties to rule the nation. There are several regional leaders with experience and capability, who can do better job for India, much more than that of Gujarat model of development as claimed and focused by BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, to carry forward the development of the nation," Gowda told reporters here.
The former Prime Minister said that if reasonable time was given, "regional parties and Left parties could cobble up a good government and show the results".
Gowda said the scheduled meeting of floor leaders of Parliament belonging to non-BJP and non-Congress tomorrow at Delhi would discuss various issues and form a sub-committee to chalk out a strategy to set in motion to form a Front. "You call it as National Front or Third Front", he said.
Gowda said he did not want to discuss on the "topic who is the next Prime Minister - Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi", but concerned about the future Government and status of regional parties.
"There would be a political polarisation which nobody can avoid," he said.

Stating that he was not in the race for Prime Minstership, Gowda said there were many aspirants in the regional parties like Mulayam Singh, Nitish Kumar and Jayalalithaa. JD(S) has no objection to support any of them, depending on the party's success in Kerala and Karnataka.
On the attack on fishermen from Tamil Nadu by Sri Lankan Navy, Gowda said war of words would not yield any results.
There should be strong and cordial relationship with neighbouring countries, he said.
