The order under Section 30 (2) of Police Act would be in force for 30 days from tomorrow till June 14, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan (Law and Order) said in a release today.
He said the measure was necessary in view of the commencement of the budget session of Puducherry Assembly tomorrow.
Various political parties, organisations have planned to stage agitations and hold processions which might cause disruption of traffic, endanger peace or cause damage to private and public properties in the region, if not regulated, he added.
Those organising the demonstrations or processions should obtain prior licence from the law and order wing of the police at least 48 hours in advance, he said.
The order would not cover funerals, marriage celebrations, religious functionsor ceremonies and government functions, he added.
