Reheating Furnace of New Plate Mill of RSP Lighted Up

Project work of a new 4.3 metre wide state-of-the-art Plate Mill of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has crossed a major milestone with the lighting up of the Reheating Furnace.
It is noteworthy that the new Plate Mill is being installed with initial capacity of 1.0 Million Tonne (0.92 MT saleable), RSP sources said today.
The Plate Mill equipped with state-of-art technology will produce wide range of plates with close tolerances to meet stringent international standards, they said.
The Reheating Furnace, lighted up by RSP's CEO on May 12, is a key feature of the Mill and is of walking beam type and has a capacity of 225 Tonnes per hour.
LOI-Tenova-Hypertherm is the technology supplier as well as erection contractor for the technologically advanced furnace. The furnace will use both mixed gas and oil as fuel.
