The 22-year-old girl had suffered serious burn injuries in the incident that occurred on the intervening night of March 21 and 22 after the accused, Shahrukh surreptitiously entered her house in Markaj Maszid Kaila Bhatta, they said.
The girl was admitted to district government hospital where from she was referred to another health care institute to get specialised treatment, Superintendent of Police (City) Salman Taj Patil said.
He said police not nab the culprit soon as the family members of the victim were not cooperating and telling the whereabouts of the accused, an acquaintance of theirs.
Shahrukh, who works in Gazipur in Delhi, was to leave from the city last night and was held from the railway station, the SP said.
