Release findings of the Henderson Brooks report: BJYM

"The country wants to know what were the shortcomings of the 1962 war. The people have a right to know the findings of the Henderson Brooks report," BJYM national president Anurag Thakur said here, while addressing a ceremony to mark the flag-off of a rally commemorating the 50th anniversary of the month-long war.

He said that discussion of the issues involved in 1962 will help the country to be better prepared for any contingency in future.

Blaming then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for "mistakes" which led to India's humiliation in the war, Thakur said the issue of national security still remain paramount.

"People of the country want to know the challenges facing it and also about the preparations being made to face them," the Lok Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh said.

Thakur said while China is India's largest trade partner, the neighbouring country contnues to hold on to Aksai Chin area in Ladakh.

"We notice that our focus and also information about China is much less than our knowledge about Pakistan. We need to follow China more," he said.

BJP president Nitin Gadkari flagged-off the car and bike rally which will travel from Guwahati to Bomla in Arunachal Pradesh via Tezpur, Bomdila, Dirang and Tawang. The yatra will culminate at Bomla on October 21.

Then for a month, it will visit different parts of the country.

The "Shaheed Shradhanjali Yatra" is intended to pay homage to the Indian soldiers who fought in the 1962 war.
