Instituted in the name of Michael E Porter, a Professor at Harvard Business School and father of modern strategy field, it is awarded to entities which have showcased outstanding performance in the industry and their activities have enabled upliftment of social indicators in their area of work.
Of the 30 companies shortlisted, nine got this year's awards, a statement by Institute for Competitiveness, which organised the Porter Prize 2015, said.
Porter Prize for Enabling Social Progress was awarded to Reliance Foundation, the CSR arm of Reliance Industries.
Porter Prize for Leveraging Unique Activities was awarded to JSW Steel while the Porter Prize on Industry Architectural Shift was awarded to Mahindra Rural Housing and Finance.
Porter Prize on Exploiting Tradeoffs was awarded to Abbott India, Porter Prize for Creating Distinctive Value to DHL and Porter Prize for Value Based Healthcare to Apollo Hospitals.
Porter Prize on Creating Shared Value was shared by Jain Irrigation and JSW Group.
