Reliance Group, Invest India to organise Rs20-lakh IoT contest

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group's Internet of Things arm Unlimit along with government's investment promotion arm Invest India have joined hands to organise the first-ever IoT contest in the country.
"One of the objectives of the 'Startup India Hub' of Invest India is to facilitate and support budding entrepreneurs across the country. Relevant contests like 'Inerthrone' will encourage innovation in the IoT space and provide a platform to start-ups," Invest India said in a joint statement.
The Sardar Patel Institute of Technology and IB-Hubs are also strategic partners for the IoT contest.
"Customer-centric businesses like ours are embracing the depth and breadth of the changing technology landscape. Interthrone is a platform for start-ups working on worldclass technological solutions to partner with us along this dynamic digital journey," Reliance Capital Executive Director Anmol Ambani said.
The contest will feature five categories in three stages (ideation, concept & research and prototype) and will run over a period of 6 months. The five categories include Connected Homes, FinTech, Automotives and Public Transport, Smart Village, and Start-ups.
The winning teams across categories will be given a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh while the runners up will receive Rs 1 lakh each. 10 start-ups in total will be incubated from Interthrone.
Winning teams will also get free Digital Ocean credits, access to world class research and development facilities of CeNSE, IISc Bangalore and a lot of other significant benefits, the statement said.
"India has witnessed the third largest number of young start-ups worldwide. With IoT being a revolution in the making, we want to ensure that young entrepreneurs and innovators are actively engaged in this space," Juergen Hase, Chief Executive Officer of Unlimit said.
