Punjab and Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today said there was a difference between 'religion' and 'dharma', which needs to be understood.
He was talking about Indian ethos of live and let live and divinity in humanism while addressing teachers at a seminar on 'One India: Promoting Communal Harmony and National Unity' at Panjab University here.
"The Indian ethos and culture surpasses all man-made barriers of race, religion and nations. Indians have never conquered, plundered or committed genocides on other peoples and they never will, primarily because the deeper values enshrined in our Human Dharma are against such mindless violence and expansionism," a Haryana government release quoting him said.
Solanki said if world was to progress and live peacefully, then the Indian ethos of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (whole world is one family) needs to be followed as it is the key to stability and world peace.
"Where there is no enemy and humans celebrating our diversity should live in peace with each other," he further added.
