Remand of fishermen extended by Sri Lankan court

A Sri Lankan court today extended the remand of 36 fishermen from here, arrested by the island nation's navy personnel while fishing near Katchatheevu on different dates, to October 7.
Mannar Judicial Magistrate Aanandhi Kanagarathinam extended the remand of the fishermen, arrested on charges of violating International Maritime Boundary Line, till October 7 S Emerit, President, Rameswaram Fishermen Organisation, said quoting information received by him.
While 30 fishermen were arrested on September 11, the rest were arrested on September 9.
