A bench of justices Badar Durrez Ahmed and Ashutosh Kumar said it was deferring taking any coercive action to enable the municipal corporations, DDA and public works department (PWD) to comply with the court's May 25 direction to remove all non -conforming speed breakers.
The court on May 25 had made it clear that its directions "shall be strictly complied with" and warned that in case of non-compliance, it "would be constrained to take coercive action" against those responsible.
The court directed NDMC to take necessary action - either to get approval from traffic police or to remove them - with regard to these five speed breakers.
The three corporations sought more time to place the correct state of affairs before the court, while Delhi Development Authority (DDA) submitted that there were no non-conforming speed breakers on roads maintained by it.
