Director (Administration) Girish Kumar has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police crime branch requesting investigations in the genuineness of National Energy Commission, Bangalore, a senior police official said.

In his complaint, Kumar said that it was noticed that a website was operational in the name of National Energy Commission and showing it is as a Government of India body, set up at HousaHalli in Bangalore, Karnataka.

"The website claims that it was responsible for formulating policies, programmes necessary for popularising the application of various non conventional and renewable source of energy in the country," the complainant said, adding also it claimed concerning utilisation of Solar Energy, Bio-gas, Micro-hydel, Bio-mass energy.

"This ministry being the nodal ministry for all Renewable Energy Programmes and activities in India was not aware of any such Commission set up by the Government or any of the State Government," Kumar said.

In the complaint filed on Friday last, the official said, "we have doubts that this may be a bogus entity indulging in fraudulent activities as they were inviting application for a number of jobs including 45 numbers for PROs online.

"But it does not have a postal mailing contact address, which again strengthen doubts about the genuineness of this entity. This commission was conducting exams also and receiving payments," the official said.

"It is requested that the genuineness of this commission may please be verified so that it doesn't cheat people on behalf of the Government," Kumar said.
