Earlier, renovation and beautification works were taken up at Rs seven crore and the 8.5 acre memorial, a visible landmark at the famous Marina beach here, now sports the AIADMK symbol of two-leaves and a statue of of a winged-horse representing the mythical Pegasus in bronze shade.
The latest additions include a cover of Korean grass, a variety of exotic plants and a granite platform shaped like a guitar, a state government release said.
Ramps for differently-abled persons, rust-proof stainless steel grips on the platform, an artificial fountain besides dded lighting were also in place as part of the renovation, it added.
Jayalalithaa, considered a protege of MGR, also paid homage at the memorial.
