Meanwhile, the Indian Women's Press Corps demanded that action should be taken against police officials who allegedly subjected him and his family to mental and physical harassment. "We would like to express our dismay at the manner in which a senior journalist working with the DNA, Mr Iftikar Gilani, was harassed by members of the Delhi police," it said in a statement. Gilani is a Government of India accredited journalist and covers Parliament proceedings as well. It is highly distressing that he have been picked up like this by the Delhi police, the statement said.
