Meanwhile, Executive Magistrate, Ganderbal, Ghulam Mohammad Khatana and his personal security guard Fayaz Ahmad were reportedly thrashed by an irate mob when Dar's body was being taken to Sub-District Hospital for postmortem. Official sources said Khatana and his guard had to be rescued by police who fired tear gas shells at the protestors. Both of them were admitted to hospital for treatment. The police also took custody of the body. Later, senior civil administration and police officials held talks with elders of the area, requesting them to allow the legal procedure to be carried out, the sources said. A compromise was reached after the officials gave an assurance that a case would be registered about the incident which took place yesterday.
