The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) today submitted an affidavit in the Orissa High Court, stating that the ongoing repair work of at least six temples inside the Jagannath temple premises in Puri would end "very soon".
The ASI, as directed, submitted that the repair works of six temples, which had developed cracks, are progressing on a war footing.
"The repair works will end very soon," the ASI affidavit stated and mentioned the inspection of the 'Nata Mandap' at the temple premises, which began today.
An ASI core committee, during the day, began the three-day inspection of the 'Nata Mandap' of Jagannath Temple, after it was reported that the repaired hall still had defects, as it was leaking during heavy rains earlier this month, sources said.
Experts from IIT Chennai and IIT Kharagpur will accompany the ASI team tomorrow and on Wednesday to inspect the structure, they said.
