Report submitted to Guj CEO on Modi's press meet

Acting on a controversy over Modi's address to media and he showing party symbol 'Lotus' after casting vote, district returning officer today submitted a preliminary report before the state chief electoral officer.
Ahmedabad Collector and Returning Officer Roopwant Singh replied in positive when asked whether the Election Commission has sought any report on the row over Modi's address to the media and he flashing the party symbol.
"We have sent a report to the CEO. We have sent a preliminary report. Shall submit video clip," Singh said.
As per the Election Commission norms, if a party candidate canvasses within the radius of 100 metres of a polling booth, then he can be booked for violation of model code of conduct.
Earlier today, Modi addressed the media immediately after casting his vote at a school in Ranip area of Ahmedabad.
Modi was seen displaying a replica of Lotus during his address to the media, after he cast his vote from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat, where BJP veteran L K Advani is contesting.

Opponent parties like Congress and Aam Aadmi Party have alleged breach of model code of conduct of the election.
Gujarat Congress has filed a complaint with Election Commission of India alleging it to be poll code violation.
"EC should take action against him and we demand his arrest for poll code violation," Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president Arjun Modhvadia told PTI.
AAP's state convener Sukhdev Patel said that they will complain against Modi.
"It is his nature not to follow the rules as he has appealed to voters through media by showing his party's symbol on the day of voting," Patel said.
