A female Ph.D scholar is untraceable for past two days after she had gone to the IIT campus here to take guidance from a professor for her research.
Neha Jaiswal, 28, is pursuing a Ph.D in environmental science from Chitrakoot University and she had been frequenting the IIT campus to take assistance from the professor, under whom she had completed a project in 2012.
Her parents have lodged a report in this regard after which investigations have been started, police said.
"The parents also contacted their relatives to enquire about Neha, but in vein," SP (rural) Manoj Sonkar said, adding the police is tracking her mobile phone call records and Internet usage to trace her whereabouts.
Meanwhile, the IIT administration has said the girl used to occasionally come to the campus and she is not associated with the institute.
"Neha had undertaken a project under Professor Nalini Shankar in 2012 and since then, she had been coming to meet her personally for her project. She is not related to the IIT in any way," Deputy Registrar C P Singh said.
"Our investigations found that on Saturday (the day since she is untraceable), Neha had been collecting information about trains to Gujarat using Internet," he added.
