"Disaster Management lanes should be notified on all the 70 main roads marked by the Disaster Management Authority," Delhi BJP Unit President Satish Upadhyay said here.
He said there was great pressure of traffic on the roads of Delhi and it had often being seen that even ambulance, fire tenders and PCR vans were stuck in traffic jam.
"Many times ambulances are unable to pass through the traffic and the patient dies before reaching hospital," the BJP leader said in a statement.
Similarly, in the case of incidents of fire or collapse of buildings, the fire tender and ambulance are stuck in the traffic and small incidents turn into big tragedy, it added.
Upadhyay said that during the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, lanes were dedicated for the sportsmen and sports managers.
"Similarly, Delhi Government should notify dedicated lanes for use of vehicles during emergency and the people should be made aware of it," he said.
