The resolution is likely to be taken up for discussion during the forthcoming Autumn Session of the state Assembly, scheduled to start from October 1.

"Non local members of the SASB do not have any idea of the cultural, geographical and regional sensitiveness of the state, which often makes Amarnath Yatra controversial," said Sheikh Abdul Rashid, MLA from Langate constituency in the resolution.

Keeping in view the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, it is the need of hour to hand over the control of the SASB to local Kashmiri Pandits, which will give them a sense of belonging and self-confidence, the legislator said.

The resolution also called for handing over the control of the Muslim Wakaf Board to eminent members from the Muslim community in the Valley.

Rashid said the Wakaf Board should be made an apolitical institution as it does not belong to any political party or family or any individual.

"The move will help in ensuring that resources and assets of Wakaf Board belonging to Muslim community are utilised in a transparent way for the betterment of community," he said.

Rashid said that he has submitted another resolution seeking withdrawal of all FIRs registered against Kashmiri youths who were allegedly involved in stone-pelting incidents since 2008 Amarnath land row agitation.
