Respite from heat as temperature drops in Haryana, Punjab

The maximum temperature across Haryana and Punjab today plunged by upto nine notches, a day after rains lashed several parts in the two states, providing much-needed relief to people from hot weather conditions.
Hisar, which generally turns out to be the hottest place in the two states during summers, was the coolest town in the region today with maximum temperature at 31.6 degrees Celsius, nine notches below normal.
Similarly, Ambala was cooler by six degree Celsius than normal at 33.5 deg Celsius, Karnal recorded highest of 32 degree Celsius, down seven notches, and Narnaul registered a maximum temperature of 34 degree Celsius, down six notches.
Chandigarh's maximum also dropped after being lashed by rains yesterday. The maximum temperature here today settled at 34.5 degree Celsius as cool breeze in the morning and evening provided relief to the people from the hot weather.
In Punjab, Ludhiana recorded a maximum of 34.5 degree Celsius, down five notches while Patiala residents, too, got respite as the maximum temperature here settled at 33.4 degree Celsius, six below normal, according to the Met Department report here.
Amritsar's maximum settled at 36.9 deg C, three degrees below normal.
The Met department here has forecast light to moderate rain/thundershowers at a few places in Haryana and Punjab during the next two days.
