West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said restoration of peace in Maoist-affected Jangalmahal was her government's biggest achievement in the last four and half years which had been possible due to development works.

"Peace in Jangalmahal is the biggest achievement of the state government," she said inaugurating a host of development projects at Jangalmahal.
The Jangalmahal area comprise the tribal inhabited forest areas in the districts of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia.
Banerjee said under Trinamool Congress government Jangalmahal has seen a "huge surge" of development activities. "The dark days of Amlasole are over. Various schemes have put smiles on the faces of the people of Jangalmahal."
Amlasole village in West Midnapore district had hit the headlines in 2004 during the erstwhile Left Front rule for alleged starvation deaths.
