Justice Sunil Gaur ordered the DDA to restore the power supply while hearing a petition filed by Senior Citizen Council of Delhi through its President J R Gupta, who accused the DDA of disconnecting the electricity supply arbitrarily.
Justice Gaur asked the DDA to treat the petition as representation to it and redress the grievance within four weeks but ordered it to restore the power supply in the meantime.
According to the petitioner, on May 25, the land owning agency had disconnected the electricity following a compliant alleging that the activities of senior citizens create lot of noise due to which the residents in the area have been disturbed.
The petitioners' council claimed that it has been organising the activities for senior citizens for past 33 years and more than 500 people participate everyday at the Old Age Corner Shed in Deer park at Safdarjung Enclave.
"On the basis of false and baseless complaints, the DDA disconnected power supply even without issuing any notice," Gupta said terming the decision as "arbitrary".
