Normal life was disrupted in and around Lal Chowk, the commercial hub of Srinagar, today as police imposed restrictions in some police station areas ahead of a protest march by separatists.
Restrictions were imposed in some areas in and around the business centre of Lal Chowk to stop the proposed protest programme of JKLF to mark the death anniversary of its founder Muhammad Maqbool Bhat who was hanged in Tihar jail on February 11, 1984, officials said.
They said the areas from Regal Chowk to Amira Kadal and Maisuma were sealed with concertina wire and no one was allowed.
The restrictions led to massive traffic jams around the city centre as vehicles were diverted from these areas resulting in inconvenience to commuters.
