Resul Pookutty nominated at US award for 'Roar'

Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty has been nominated at the 62nd Golden Reel Award by Motion Pictures Sound Editors of America along with Amrit Pritam for their work in Bollywood film 'Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans'.
Pookutty, 43, who won an Oscar as well as a Bafta for 'Slumdog Millionaire' in 2009, took to twitter to announce the news.
"Guys big news: myself and Amrit Pritam nominated for the 62nd Golden Reel Award by #MPSE of America for best sound design for "Roar"! Wahhh," he posted.
'Roar' directed Kamal Sadanah, is a about a team trying to outsmart the acute senses of the infamous white tiger in Sundarbans, West Bengal. The film hit theatres in India last year.

"The nomination at the #MPSE is so significant for us Indian sound designers. One, it's so difficult to pierce into the American technical talent community. Two, here we are the least taken as a serious craft, least paid, last in the line. This nomination is a long overdue," Pookutty added.
The sound designer is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and he has been invited to attend this year's award ceremony which is to take place on February 22.
"Woohoo... Double whammy Academy invites me to be at the Oscars! All my fellow members and nominees see you on Feb 22," he tweeted.
