A senior retired IAF official, who was the Project Director for the flight test of India's Tejas indigenous Light Combat Aircraft programme, was found murdered at his residence here today.
Air Commodore Parvez Khokhar, aged 70, was found strangled to death by a cloth with both his hands and feet tied up at his residence near Huskur road, Bangalore (Rural) Superintendent of Police, Ramesh Bhanot, told PTI.
Police are suspecting a motive other than robbery for the murder, which came to light this morning, he added.
According to Bhanot, after dinner last night, Khokhar and his wife slept in separate rooms, as was usual for them.
In the morning, after waking up, his wife found the door to her room locked from the outside. She tried to call out to her husband but got no response.
Her cries for help brought neighbours to her aid who, finding the front door of the house locked, had to enter from the back door, which remained open. It was after they had opened the door to his room that Khokhar was found dead inside.

Bhanot said that although the killers had attempted to open a few cupboards, they did not take anything valuable.
"On questioning Khokhar's wife she, too, said that none of the valuables were missing," he said. "So, we are looking at motives other than robbery also for the killing," he added.
Khokhar, who hails from Punjab, is survived by his wife and two daughters, both of whom are married and settled in Delhi.
