Retired RTO staff, 12 other held for making bogus certificates

: A 13 member gang, including a retired assistant at the Regional Transport Office in the city and a driving school owner were arrested here today for allegedly making bogus Registration certificates and driving licenses at several places in the district, police said.
The arrests followed a compliant by Motor Vehicle Inspector S Kannan of malpractices in issuing the certificates and licences, Superintendent of Police Asra Garg said.
He said a police team kept a watch on the RTO here and found driving school owner involved in making bogus documents, including police certificate, advocates' certificate to get Registration Certificate and Driving License from the RTO.
The man was arrested and based on information given by him, the 12 others were arrested, Garga said.
All of them were produced before a court here, which remanded them to 15 days judicial custody
A total of 78 bogus RC and Licenses and documents were also seized from them, he said.
