Despite heightened tension following the Army's cross-LoC surgical strike, the 'Beating Retreat' ceremony at Attari-Wagah border remained normal even as there was no participation from the public on the Indian side.
BSF DIG J S Oberoi said the border guarding forces of both the countries carried out parade jointly at their respective territory as their national flags were lowered at sunset.
Even the trade activities between India and Pakistan remained usual through the land transit route, he said.
The DIG said that during routine evening parade, there was no visitor on the Indian side as to ensure civilian safety, members of the public were not allowed to witness the ceremony from the stands on the border.
However, he said that gathering was seen across the border in the viewers gallery.
The BSF has put all its units along the International Border on "high alert" in the wake of the surgical strikes by India on terror launch pads across the LoC last night.
