Revenue collection target exceeded

The Customs department today said it has collected revenue of Rs 1,010.05 crore, exceeding the Rs 1,000-crore target set for collection of import duty during 2014-15.
Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), Amritsar, Sunil Sawhney said actual collections were 17 per cent higher than the collection of Rs 864.32 crore in previous fiscal.
Exporters were sanctioned duty drawback of Rs 493.77 crore in 2014-15 as against Rs 409.54 crore in 2013-14, reflecting an increase of 21 per cent of an export incentive, he said.
Total import value of cement from Pakistan was Rs 232.36 crore and Rs 41.08 crore was paid as duty on the same.
Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate, Amritsar has territorial and administrative jurisdiction over the States of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Chandigarh for entire Customs work including Anti-Smuggling (customs preventive work) on the international borders of these states.
Besides above, this the Commissionerate handles passenger movement at Raja Sansi International Airport, Land Customs Station Attari Road and Attari Rail and Import /Export of cargo at Inland container Depots/ Container Freight stations at Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Dappar(Dera Bassi), Bhatinda and Rail Cargo Amritsar.
