District Collector Ashwin Mudgal said here today that the agitating revenue department employees met him and submitted a memorandum of demands which includes immediate suspension of two police officers for allegedly filing a hasty FIR against a revenue official.
The development came after virtually the entire revenue department struck work and protested against the FIR filed against a revenue official of Akola district in connection with the death of three labourers on Sunday.
The memorandum submitted to the collector also demanded an enquiry against the Additional SP of Akola for being prima facie guilty of filing a false FIR against tehsildar Sachin Patil of Telhara tehsil of Akola district under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code.
District president of the Government Gazetted Officers' Association Rajendra Deshmukh said that revenue department employees are on an indefinite strike which would continue until their demands are met.
Tehsildar Sachin Patil has registered offences against 252 cases of illegal mining and transportation of sand during his short span of service in Telhara.
"Though employees and officers are on an indefinite strike, they would attend the Maharashtra Day flag hoisting," District Collector Ashwin Mudgal said.
