Revenue Inspector arrested for accepting bribe

A Revenue Inspector was arrested by anti-corruption vigilance sleuths in Odisha's Rayagada district today for allegedly accepting Rs 8,000 bribe from a man for demarcation of his land.
Acting on a complaint, vigilance officers laid a trap and the complainant met Banamali Sahu, Revenue Inspector (RI), Akhusingh Revenue Circle in Rayagada district, in his office room, a vigilance release said.
When Sahu enquired about the bribe money, complainant Lingaraj Panda handed over the bribe money to him. The RI was caught red handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 8,000 from, it said.
The bribe money of Rs 8,000 has been recovered from the possession of the RI, who was arrested, the release said adding that his residential house at Gunupur, Rayagada is being searched.
