Revenue of Gulmarg Gondola up by nearly 50 pc: Tourism min

The revenue of Gulmarg Gondola, a part of Jammu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporation (JKSCCC), has increased by nearly 50 per cent to over Rs 27 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year compared the same period last fiscal.
"Gulmarg Gondola has earned Rs 27.07 crore from April to June ending, 2014 compared to Rs 19.27 crore during the corresponding period of last fiscal," state Tourism Minster G A Mir today said.
Addressing a meeting convened to review the functioning of the corporation at Gulmarg tourist resort, Mir called for proper utilisation of available resources for the comfortable stay of the travellers at tourist destinations.
"It would go a long way in conveying the hospitable nature of the people of the state and help in increasing the influx of tourists to the state," he added.
Reviewing the physical and financial targets of the JKSCCC set for current fiscal, the meeting was informed that Rs 40.13 crore have been realised while over 6 lakh persons enjoyed Gondola ride during 2013-14, an official spokesman said.
As many as 11,133 passengers were ferried at Makhdoom Sahib Ropeway in the old city earning Rs 8.42 lakh from April to June, 2014, he said.
