Revenue official caught red-handed while accepting bribe

A revenue department official was today caught red-handed by the Lokayukta police while allegedly accepting Rs 4,000 as bribe from a farmer in Mahidpur area near here, officials said.
Accused Ramesh Goyal (57), lower rank staffer of the revenue department (Patwari), was caught accepting a bribe from farmer Antar Singh to mutate a tract of land in his (Antar's) name, they said.
The farmer had purchased the land recently. The official has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigations are on, Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) S C Baghel said.
