Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday asked the District Collectors in the state to prepare a plan for revival of the forests and implement it.

If the social forestry helps to reduce temperatures in the residential areas, forest development would bring in a change in the atmosphere and help bring in more rains and enables biodiversity, he said.

The Collectors should take inspiration from the revival of forest programme being implemented around Gajwel constituency and the should be implemented all over the state, he was quoted as saying in an official release.

On Wednesday, Rao along with Collectors and other senior officials visited his constituency to show them the forest revival programmes being implemented there.

He said though there is 66.48 lakh hectares of forestland which constitutes 23.4 per cent of the total land, available in the state, there were no forests in that ratio.

The CM also discussed the implementation of the new Panchayat Raj Act, new Municipalities Act and the formation of the new Revenue Act with the collectors.
