Top RSS, VHP and BJP functionaries including Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, Union Minister Rajnath Singh and VHP patron Ashok Singhal paid rich tributes to Sangh pracharak Sohan Singh here today.
A message by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Singh's tribute was read out on the occasion.
"Singh never allowed any dereliction in following the code of conduct. The parting of such a personality will continue to give a feeling a hollowness," Modi said in his message.
Bhagwat termed Singh as a "yardstick" of the Sangh's work and recalled that he did not have any ego and had complete dedication for his work.
"How do we pay real homage to him (Sohan Singh)? We should not keep alive his remembrance just to shed tears. His remembrance should be kept alive in us because we have to move ahead. How to move forward, he has already shown the path. We should keep in mind the example he has set on how to move ahead and then move forward," Bhagwat said.
Bhagwat said that although no one comes to this world to stay forever, there are some people who come and become examples and light to others on how to live their lives.
"For work, he had total (dedication). The only thing which was on his mind was to work for the Sangh and how its credit goes to it only. Can we imbibe this complete dedication?" Bhagwat asked.
