A city-based men's rights group has planned a slew of initiatives in view of International Men's Day to be observed tomorrow.
Vaastav Foundation will organise a blood donation camp, a signature campaign among others.
The objectives behind celebrating the Men's Day include focussing on male health, promoting gender equality and highlighting positive male role models, said a statement issued by the foundation.
"It is an occasion to highlight discrimination against men and boys and to celebrate their achievements, particularly their contributions to community, family, and child care.
"We have procured the necessary permissions from authorities to hold blood donation camp to be held at world famous Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, besides we would be running a day-long signature campaign to highlight the need to promote the gender equality and for repealing laws blindly favouring women," Amit Deshpande of Vaastav Foundation told PTI.
The group is also planning to contest upcoming civic polls hoping that demonetisation of high value currencies will ensure wiping out of black money.
The foundation would also announce the formation of a 'Maharashtra State Coalition of Men' which it said would engage with society and government to bring awareness about men's issues on state level.
