Rights activist demands FIR against park authorities
Press Trust of India Dehradun A prominent human rights activist of Uttarakhand Padmashree Avdhash Kaushal today demanded an FIR against Rajaji National Park authorities for partying within the park premises in violation of the Wild Life Protection Act.
Kaushal, who runs an NGO here, alleged that 80-100 vehicles carrying park officials and their families were driven into the park area yesterday, where they partied with loud music and alcohol to usher in Holi festivities.
Terming it a violation of the Wild Life Protection Act, Kaushal asked Chief Wild Life Warden S S Sharma to file an FIR against the officials who held the party inside the park precincts.
He also threatened to go to court demanding action against Sharma, Rajaji National Park Director S P Subuddhi and Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, if officials involved in the incident were not penalised.
